AI for Kids? We’re Not Ready.

Where’s the safety net before the sandbox? What happens when power moves faster than regulation?

“Kid-friendly” AI sounds nice.
But who defines “friendly” — and who’s keeping it in check?

Elon Musk just announced Baby Grok, a version of his chatbot designed for children.
It promises safe content. But let’s pause for a second.

This isn’t just about tech.
It’s about trust.

Because here’s the deal:

🧠 Large language models still mislabel.
🙈 They hallucinate.
🎭 And they reflect the bias of their creators — even when labeled “safe for kids.”

Sure, it’s not the first attempt.

Google has Socratic.
OpenAI is experimenting with ChatGPT for Kids.

But this isn’t a race to build.
It should be a race to think.

What does safe even mean when the model runs unsupervised?
Who gets to decide what’s appropriate for a 7-year-old?
And why are we acting like filtering is a full-proof fix?

Here’s the uncomfortable truth:
We’re letting AI into childhood before we’ve made it accountable in adulthood.

That’s not innovation. That’s speed without brakes.

Should we be excited?
Or should we be cautious — maybe even pressing pause?

I’d love to hear your take.

👉 Are we moving too fast by building AI for kids before solving the deeper problems?
